This grade II listed Edwardian formal park has a capacity to host up to 9000 visitors and occupies 1.8 hectares close to the centre of the pretty Somerset market town of Wellington.
The traditional park can be considerably extended with use of the adjoining recreation ground.
Parking for events is available at the nearby North Street Car Park. The area has good public transport links and is close to the Motorway giving good access from Devon and Cornwall as well as Bristol and the Midlands.
Wellington Park was restored to its former glory in 2000 with the aid of Heritage Lottery Funding and has a ha-ha, bandstand, ornamental pond and floral bedding displays. The park also has public toilets with disabled facilities, nearby children’s play areas, a skateboard ramp and recreation ground which makes it ideal for community events and sports-related activities.
It hosts a lively and popular events programme throughout the summer, notably a Sunday concert which utilises the bandstand which is coordinated by the Friends of Wellington Park. These concerts typically attract an attendance in excess of 400.
